Skye & Naomi each discovered Lindy Hop at an early age. Both began performing, competing and teaching while still in their teens. Over a decade later they can boast some of the top titles including the American Lindy Hop Championships, US Open and World Lindy Hop Championships. Naomi, from Washington DC and Skye, originally from Ithaca, NY, have been lucky enough to travel the globe spreading their love of the dance, from Seoul, South Korea to Seattle, Washington, to the infamous Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden and everywhere in between. Naomi also has a beautiful singing voice and sometimes performs with the Boilermaker Jazz Band. We have been fortunate to have had both Skye and Naomi at Beantown Camp and we are excited to bring them back to our area after a fabulous weekend with them last December. You won’t want to miss this very talented and innovative duo!

There will be three days of workshops on Friday, November 26 to Sunday, November 28, 2010 at two locations. Friday and Sunday are at Lower Falls Community Center, Newton, MA and Saturday at Brookline Tai Chi, Brookline, MA. There is also a Swing dance with the Gordon Webster Band at Uptown Swing Dance on Saturday night at Brookline Tai Chi with a dance exhibition by Skye and Naomi. The workshop early registration discount deadlines are Wednesday, October 27, 2010 for the Early Bird rate and Wednesday, November 17, 2010 for the Discount rate. Space is limited so please register early to ensure a spot.
Registration: Full payment required to hold your spot. Partners not required except for the Lindy Hop Partner Routine workshop (if you are looking for a partner we will help match people at the workshops). Same price to watch workshops. Please note, for these workshops there will be no refunds after Wednesday, November 17, 2010. No videotaping permitted. If pre-registered, please arrive at least 15 minutes before your first workshop each day to allow time to check-in and warm-up. If not pre-registered, please arrive 20 minutes early to allow time to register. If you are not able to pre-register, please still submit an on-line registration form to help speed your registration on the day.
Shoes & Bags: Please be sure to bring clean dry sneakers (smoother soles have less traction and are better, allowing for easy turning) or soft-soled flat dance shoes. (Please, no hard soled, or black rubber soled shoes that leave marks.) Please change shoes on the entrance mat to help prevent outside wet, salt and grit from getting on the wooden floor. Please leave all bags and street shoes outside the gymnasium so as to maximize the dance space.
Snacks & Drinks: You may want to bring snacks for the breaks. Juice and bottled water will be available for purchase, but there are no vending machines in the buildings. There are nearby places to get food, however, in Newton there is nothing close enough if time is short.
