Dominique has been teaching dance for the past twelve years. She began competing in Balboa five years ago and has made a name for herself placing 1st in the Eastern Balboa Championships, placing 2nd at Camp Hollywood’s National Jitterbug Championships as well as the Canadian Swing Championships and 3rd at All Balboa Weekend Showcase division. Dominique is a versatile, dedicated social dancer recognized among top dancers for her sense of style and grace on the dance floor, and is a much sought-after instructor worldwide. She also organizes successful international events such as Followlogie and the Montréal Balboa Revue.

Joel has been teaching and promoting Balboa and Lindy Hop since 1999. He helped found All Balboa Weekend with Valerie Salstrom, then moved to San Diego where he is the host of the Balboa Rendezvous, an international workshop weekend culminating with an evening at the historic Balboa Pavilion, one of the original venues where Balboa was created. Joel has competed and placed at American Lindy Hop Championships, National Jitterbug Championships, and American Classic Balboa Championship, but his passion is in spreading his love of Swing dance both in his local scene in San Diego and traveling around the globe. Joel has a high quality, energetic approach to the dance and a down to earth enthusiasm that is contagious, making every lesson with him a blast! He blends this with a love and respect for the history of Balboa and Lindy Hop, and embodies these qualities in his instruction and dancing.

After classes on Friday, everyone should head on over to the Boston Swing Central Friday night dance featuring Shawn Hershey and the Fried Bananas. There is also a Swing dance with Baby Soda at Uptown Swing Dance on Saturday night at KI, Brookline, MA with a dance exhibition by Joel and Dominique. The workshop registration discount deadlines are Wednesday, March 13, 2013 for the Early Bird rate and Wednesday, April 3, 2013 for the Discount rate. Space is limited so please register early to ensure a spot.

Registration: Full payment required to hold your spot. Partners not required except for the Lindy Hop Partner Routine workshop (if you are looking for a partner we will help match people at the workshops). Same price to watch workshops. Please note, for these workshops there will be no refunds after Wednesday, April 3, 2013. If pre-registered, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your first workshop each day to allow time to check-in and warm-up. If not pre-registered, please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to register. If you are not able to pre-register, please still submit an on-line registration form to help speed your registration on the day.

Shoes & Bags: Please be sure to bring clean dry sneakers (smoother soles have less traction and are better, allowing for easy turning) or soft-soled flat dance shoes. (Please, no hard soled, or black rubber soled shoes that leave marks.) Please change shoes on the entrance mat to help prevent outside wet, salt and grit from getting on the wooden floor. Please leave all bags and street shoes outside the gymnasium so as to maximize the dance space.

Snacks & Drinks: You may want to bring snacks for the breaks. Juice and bottled water will be available for purchase, but there are no vending machines in the buildings. There are nearby places to get food, however, in Newton there is nothing close enough if time is short.

Cost per person Discounts are for the same person taking multiple workshops.
